Winter: Snow Adventure & Survival Skills

Status: Operational

During this 4-day trip, you’ll experience winter adventures such as snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and constructing a snow quinzee at 9,960 feet. You’ll also learn survival skills and how to be comfortable doing wintertime activities.

March 21st – March 24th, 2025

Location & Lodging

The trip takes place in Angel Fire, New Mexico and participants are housed in a heated cabin with showers and hot meals.

Of Mountains & Men provides nearly everything for this life-shaping experience. All equipment is provided. All main meals and snacks are provided, and we cover the cost of youth fishing licenses. The only cost is the young man’s transportation to/from the Colorado Springs airport where other young men will meet up and carpool down with an OMM board member or we will establish a pickup point in the town of Angel Fire within 30 minutes of base camp. Participants need only bring their clothing and personal gear. A detailed packing list will be sent to all participants.

Young men ages 12-18 at the time of the trip (exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis). No winter adventure or survival skills are necessary. Youth without a father figure in their life will have a priority; if we have room, however, we’ll take young men who do have a father figure in their life.
