Gator Hunt (May 2026)

Length: 4 Days (Friday-Monday)

Dates:

  • TRIP 1: MAY 1-4, 2026
  • TRIP 2: MAY 8-11, 2026

Application Window: JAN 1-MAR 15, 2026

Youth Age Requirement: Youth should be ages 12-17 at the time of the hunt. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Only youth may harvest an animal.

Overview: Thanks to the generosity of Gettin Grubb Outfitters (visit the link below for more information), the young men will experience the thrills of gator and hog hunting! Participants will fly into/out of Orlando International Airport, arriving NLT at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon (if participants drive instead of fly, they’ll meet us in Sebring at 4 p.m.). OMM personnel will transport those flying from the airport to Sebring (2 hours away). Participants will stay at a modern Airbnb with all meals provided. We’ll hunt gators and hogs on Saturday/Sunday; hunting techniques are TBD, but will be the ones safely used by their paying clients. We’ll conduct our life-shaping Campfire Talks, biblically based discussions about Christian masculinity, each evening. Sunday’s Campfire Talk concludes with each youth being presented a knife to symbolize they’re a warrior for Christ and a bible. We’ll depart early Monday morning, with OMM personnel transporting personnel to Orlando airport.

Cost: FREE! Once participants arrive at Orlando International Airport/Sebring, OMM covers almost all costs (housing, permits, meals, equipment, etc.). OMM does not cover transportation or meat processing costs.

Mentors: Each youth will have an adult male mentor. Youth can bring their mentor with them (i.e., father, relative, family friend) or, if needed, a background-checked OMM mentor will be provided. Mentor responsibilities include being a companion on the trip, participating in The Campfire Talks, and being someone the youth feel comfortable discussing Christian Manhood with.

Safety:

  • OMM requires all youth to have completed a state-sponsored Hunter Safety Course before their trip.
  • Hunting rifles (provided by the Outfitter) will be under the direct control/close supervision of the outfitter/OMM personnel.
  • OMM personnel are CPR-certified.

Notes:

    • Each youth can harvest one gator/unlimited hogs
    • Rifles/ammunition will be provided
    • Processing: The outfitter will transport the gators to a local processor. All costs associated with meat processing/skull cleaning, gator leather are the responsibility of the youth’s sponsor, along with shipping costs (the processed gator is typically shipped to the hunter’s residence). For hogs, we usually have time to clean them before the participants depart, allowing them to take the meat with them.
