Our October 2025 Pronghorn hunt was a phenomenal success, thanks to God’s blessing in so many ways! Seven young men pursued speedgoats for the very first time, our largest pronghorn hunt ever! Backed by a team of dedicated guides, huntmasters, cooks, and Camp Commander, we had over 30 people in hunting camp.
As you’ll see in the pictures, the hunting was magnificent! The boys learned many hunting skills: where to find animals, glassing techniques, using terrain and wind to make stalks, and keeping calm in making an ethical shot. Praying over the animal in giving God thanks for providing food for their families was a powerful experience. The boys then learned how to field dress and skin their animal, doing most of the work themselves!
Camp Life had a great atmosphere! The boys and their mentors slept in wall tents as part of the true “hunting camp” experience. The meals were hearty: stew, chili, and even pork tenderloin fueled the hungry hunters! On Sunday, the boys who had already harvested an animal participated in hands-on Wilderness Skills classes in map reading, first aid, archery, and fire building.
Most important of all, however, were our nightly Campfire Talks. These biblically based discussions, using the book ‘Wild At Heart’ by John Eldredge, were designed to help young men begin to answer four questions nearly every boy wrestles with on the road to manhood. “What’s it mean to be a man? How do I become one? What’s this beautiful creature called a woman all about? How do I become truly alive?” The final talk closed with everyone gathered around a roaring campfire beneath a sky full of stars, where each young man was presented with a Bible and an OMM-engraved knife as symbols that they are a warrior for Christ.
What a phenomenal experience God gave us all!
